One of Catalonia's first natural parks, Montseny, was declared in 1978 and later designated a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, showcasing its commitment to both conservation and sustainable development. The Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park, created in 1955, is another prominent example of Catalonia's dedication to preserving its natural heritage.
Over the years, Catalonia has continued to expand its network of natural parks, including the renowned Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park, which showcases the region's volcanic history and remarkable landscapes.
Today, Catalonia boasts a diverse array of natural parks, each offering a unique blend of flora, fauna, and outdoor recreational opportunities. These parks are a testament to Catalonia's commitment to environmental conservation and the celebration of its exceptional natural beauty.
Barcelona[edit]
1 Collserola Natural Park has a network of hiking trails, revealing hidden streams, diverse flora, historic ruins, abundant birdlife and views of Barcelona from its elevated vantage points.
2 Espais Naturals del Delta del Llobregat These parks host a great biological diversity, next to agricultural fields. They contain different natural environments: the final part of the Llobregat river, lagoons and wetlands, coastal pine forests on dunes and beaches with dune vegetation, almost unique in Catalonia. They are very important spaces for fauna, especially for waterfowl, due to the fact that they are in the middle of the migratory route of birds from northern Europe to Africa.
3 Montseny Natural Park unveils a mosaic of landscapes: ancient forests, bucolic meadows and charming hamlets. You can hike along well-marked trails that wind through centuries-old woodlands, revealing hidden waterfalls and panoramic viewpoints. Climbing to Turo de l'Home is a favorite trail among locals.

7 Paratge Natural d'Interès Nacional de l'Albera It is made up of two distinct sectors: a western one that includes Recasens Castle and an eastern one with the Sant Quirze de Colera monastery, separated by the Coll de Banyuls area.

8 Cap de Creus Natural Park It a cape where the pyrenees mountains reach the Mediterranean sea.Formed by the Serra de Rodes, between Roses, Cadaqués and Llançà, it presents a coastal strip with a peculiar morphology dominated by cliffs, due to the erosion caused by the north wind and the sea. Most of the surface is covered by scrub and dry meadows, a fact that contrasts with the bareness of the vegetal landscape close to the coastal strip.
9 Capçaleres del Ter i del Freser Natural Park This park high in the pyrenees mountains , on his northern part is the border with France. It has many famous mountain and the Nuria Monestir, in a secluded valley wich canonly be acceses by train. It also includes the sky resorts of Nuria and Vallter2000
10 Montgrí, Medes Islands and Baix Ter Natural Park 
This parc includes the Mongri mountain range and a marines reserve.
The presence of a unique landscape, configured by a coastline with cliffs, coves and beaches that go into seabeds of undoubted ecological value, a mountainous massif that rises between the alluvial plains of the Baix and the Alt Empordà and the wetlands formed by the Ter River when it flows into Pals Bay
11 Zona Volcànica de la Garrotxa Natural Park - It's an area, near Olot, with small mountains that, in fact, are volcanic cones. The are is a fully forested zone, which makes difficult to see the volcavic cones. The most beautiful time to visit is around November when all trees changes colors.
Lleida[edit]
12 Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park A wild mountain region in the Pyrenees, with peaks rising over 3000 m and with nearly 200 lakes. Its steep relief stands out, with U-shaped valleys, glacial cirques, ponds, gorges and screes,
13 Alt Pirineu Natural Park This is the biggest park. It's up in the Pyrenees and it's also the border with France and Andorra. It has magnificent landscapes and a rich fauna including brown bear.
14 Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park
is an area of natural interest in Catalonia, which includes the pre-Pyrenean ranges of Cadí and Moixeró. It is a high mountain park. It includes the Llobregat springs, the Pedraforca massif.
15 Mas de Melons-Alfés - The Secans de Mas de Melons-Alfés natural area is designated as a Special Protection Zone for Birds. It is an agricultural area of the drylands of the Plana de Lleida. It is home to the main ganga population in Catalonia, although we also find other species of steppe birds such as the wren, the tit, the terrelo, etc. These birds find their ideal habitat in the conglomerate of wastelands, wastelands, barley crops, olive and almond trees that this space offers them.
Tarragona [edit]
16 Delta de l'Ebre Natural Park It is located at the mouth of the Ebro River. It includes wetlands of international importance, especially as a habitat for waterfowl. In 2013, UNESCO declared the Terres de l'Ebre Biosphere Reserve, which included the Delta de l'Ebre natural park.
17 Parc Natural de Poblet This space, on the northern slope of the Prades mountains and corresponds to the headwaters of the Francolí river, offers many possibilities for excursions and walks or simply for a walk enjoying the landscape and enjoying a hundred natural springs, many with ferruginous water . A section of the GR 175 trail passed through this natural space. It is one of the best preserved natural spaces in the Tarragona regions
18 Els Ports Natural Park The Massif dels Ports is a mountainous system where Catalonia, Aragon and the Valencian Country meet, which is included in the core area of the Terres de l'Ebre Biosphere Reserve.
The eastern or maritime side, very steep and rich in cliffs and slopes, resembles a great wall that appears out of nowhere.The western or interior slope presents slightly softer forms. The main rivers of the massif, the Matarranya, the Ulldemó, the Algars and the "Estrets", have excavated spectacular deep gorges
19 Serra de Montsant Natural Park - The Natural Park extends in the western sector of the Serralada Prelitoral Catalana, within the county of Priorat. A diverse and rich landscape, born of a complex orography, the confluence of several climatic regions and traditional agricultural uses. On the southern slope, the imposing rocky walls of the Cingule Major stand out powerfully. Above these, the mountain continues to ascend gently until it reaches the Serra Major. It houses the Cistercian monastery of Bonrepòs and then, and above all, the convent of Santa Maria d'Escaladei, which was established there in 1194.
