Would the current banner be better or what about this one? SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 14:00, 20 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

The current looks nicer to me, but frankly both look ambiguous — the current could be any riparian zone on earth, while the proposed could be taken in any place where that lizard or similar species can thrive (which makes it a tad less ambiguous than the current, to be fair). The current one seems to me to have more of a sense of place. Ikan Kekek (talk) 17:44, 20 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Banner discussion again. Banner 1 is the banner with crocodile above. Banners 2 and 3 are of Australia's most famous national park. --SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 10:38, 15 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

cc @Ikan Kekek, Vidimian: as you've both participated in the banner discussion above. --SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 10:40, 15 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
1, 0, 3, 2 for me. 2 is hazy, unfortunately. Ikan Kekek (talk) 13:06, 15 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
Oh :-(. The angle of two also slightly bothers me as well. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 13:10, 15 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

As I expressed previously, the crocodile is out for me — not that I have a phobia against the reptiles (or any other kind of animal, for that matter), but I just find it unattractive.
Banner 0 is simply any river anywhere to me. (And I say that as an agronomist who takes pride in being able to narrow down guesses for places only by discerning different plant species while looking at pictures of them.)
I've found the idea behind 2 & 3 is fantastic, but I guess they'd work better as one, showing all (or at least more of) the waterfall in a single crop. And I have to agree with Ikan that they look too hazy. Having said that, though, I think 3 is more preferable.
So if I may suggest an alternative, banner 4 — which should have been taken somewhere close to 2, and 3 — combines the elements of 0, 2, and 3: lush riverside vegetation (some of which are typically native to Australia/somewhere around the South Pacific), with a little bit of the hazy red rocks in the background. Of course I don't know how representative this banner (nor any others) would be for the area. Vidimian (talk) 15:21, 15 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
Banner 4 is definitely my favorite of the nominations. --Comment by Selfie City (talk) (contributions) 20:35, 15 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
I too like 4. Northern Australia is known for its lush green landscapes, a wet but not moist scene, and just like how Arizona and Utah are known for their canyons, Northern Australia is known for its gorges (such as Katherine, Boodjamulla, Karinji etc.) although Northern Australia is much bigger than the west coast of the US. I like it best, too. Ikan Kekek (talk) 01:47, 16 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
