More possibilities:

Like the current image, these were created by User:Danapit and are from Jade Buddha Temple. I think I mildly prefer the first one over the current image. Other opinions? Pashley (talk) 14:17, 21 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

I took this out of the sleep entry for LeTour hostel:

They also have another branch, Le Tour Shanghai Youth Hostel, 上海乐途白兰国际青年旅舍" which is near East Normal University. Contact:86-21-52510808.

I am staying at the main branch & they tell me the other one is closed now but may re-open. Preserving text here in case it does. Pashley (talk) 14:28, 9 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

I believe the banner is of the Jade Buddha Temple? w:Jade_Buddha_Temple

If so then it belongs in Shanghai/Putuo (which happens to need a compliant banner)

Is this OK Pashley ? I will search for a new Jing'an banner as well --Andrewssi2 (talk) 09:26, 20 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

I'm not certain where that temple is or which district it belongs in. We have a listing for it at Shanghai/Jing'an#See & on the map it shows as South of Suzhou Creek, so I would guess Jing'an. I'm willing to be corrected; why do you think it is in Putuo? Pashley (talk) 17:09, 20 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
User:Danapit, who created the banner, any comment? Pashley (talk) 17:12, 20 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
Well, the border between Jing'an and Putou is not marked by Suzou creek. (Shanghai districts are actually not marked in any meaningful way when walking through the city). The Wikipedia article also points to it being in Putou. If you search Putuo on Google maps you will see that the temple is 'just' (literally by a few meters) inside Putuo.
I can see why the mistake was made --Andrewssi2 (talk) 19:44, 20 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
Well, I don't know Shanghai at all, so it is quite possible that I made a mistake. I seem to remember that I was aksed by Pashley to create some banners, but I did it without any local knowleadge :) Sorry for the error. Danapit (talk) 20:10, 20 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
Not much of an error. If you leave the temple and cross the street then you leave Putuo and enter Jing'an. :) I've walked past the temple many times and was never really aware of which district I was in. Andrewssi2 (talk) 20:15, 20 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Replacement banner

[edit]

see discussion above first

Given that the existing banner is of a location not physically inside Jing'an district (albeit really close in Shanghai/Putuo), and on the basis that I think the banner should be of the focal point on the district which is Jing'an temple itself, I propose this banner instead. Happy to accept any better suggestions as well. Andrewssi2 (talk) 05:53, 27 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
