Pineville is a town in West Virginia and the county seat of Wyoming County. At the 2020 census, the population was 648.

Understand[edit]

Pineville sits alongside the Guyandotte River and has a cute, neat downtown area with a large stone courthouse sitting on a hill above the river. Originally called Castle Rock, the eponymous Castle Rock still stands alongside the Guyandotte River. Pineville is one of two sizable towns with services, groceries and restaurants near Twin Falls Resort State Park, the other being nearby Mullens.

  • The Wyoming County Courthouse is built of locally quarried stone and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
  • The Castle Rock sits in the downtown area, adjacent to the Guyandotte River.

  • The Pinnacle Creek portion of the Hatfield-McCoy ATV Trail System is accessed outside of Pineville.
