Naming[edit]

Perhaps the prefecture page should be "Akita" and this page should be "Akita City". Or perhaps, a disambiguation link is needed. -qwerty

For consistency, every prefecture in Japan with a city of the same name uses the same naming pattern, since as a general rule the city's the most common destination by far. (This is also site-wide policy.) I'd argue that this holds true for Akita as well. There are prominent links to the prefecture both in the hierarchy view at the very top and in the first paragraph, so it shouldn't be confusing or hidden. - (WT-en) Dguillaime 22:04, 1 December 2009 (EST)
I think the naming convention works well, and don't propose changing it, but anyway, maybe it's not true that Akita City is a more common destination than Akita Prefecture. Certainly the opposite for me. (WT-en) Orcrist 18:35, 17 July 2010 (EDT)

Unfindable location[edit]

The location for "Koizumigatta Park, Prefectural Museum and 300 year old rich farmer's house" is not specified. I cannot find anything by that name with a web search or a Google Maps search. There is no Japanese or telephone number. If we do not get more information, we should remove the listing. Right now it is useless to travelers. -Douglaspperkins (talk) 11:59, 9 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Douglaspperkins, I've never been there, but the google search for "Aikita Prefecture Museum" indicates that it is probably here: 39.817322, 140.066180. Also in the map there is a park of similar name (spelled slightly differently) around the building. Not sure about the farmer's house... --Danapit (talk) 12:19, 9 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Akita dog[edit]

Dogs aren't mentioned in this article. Is the Akita dog associated with this city? If so, or even if not, that should be mentioned, because it's what a lot of non-Japanese people will think of when Akita is mentioned. Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:43, 9 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
