Climate

A fabulous job has been done to create this article and bring it up to what is in my opinion Guide status! One thing that's missing is a "Climate" sub-section in "Understand." My thought is that before this article is nominated for a front-page feature, it's important to know which months are the best ones for a visit. Also, would you think that Blanes is a really popular tourist destination, such that it should be nominated for Destination of the Month, or is it Off the Beaten Path? Climate sub-section created. It's a popular destination with about 1 milion visitors per year and 40k inhabitants. But, according to the cold weather I don't think it's a good time of the year for making it Destination of the Month Eloi.sanmartin (talk) 14:26, 12 December 2013 (UTC)

It wouldn't be featured immediately. Please have a look at Dotm to see how the nomination process works, but the basics are that an article is proposed for a feature during whichever months are the best times to travel there, and then people comment on whether the article is ready to be approved for a feature or not, and why. If approved, the article is then scheduled for a feature in a given month.

1 million visitors might make this a Destination of the Month, but it's borderline. Some people felt that Rochester, New York should have been "Off the Beaten Path," and I believe it gets 2 million visitors or more per year. Ikan Kekek (talk) 22:04, 12 December 2013 (UTC)

Other things needed

A few other things:

• Listings need to be alphabetized
• Is it really necessary to list McDonald's and Burger King? We generally try to avoid that kind of thing when there are better, more local options.
• Is there really a compelling reason to group the restaurants into Seafood/Catalan/Fast Food instead of the standard Budget/Mid-range/Splurge? Grouping by cuisine type is often problematic because as soon as someone comes along with a Japanese restaurant, they'll have to create that section. Next thing you know, a French section is created with one item. And then a fine dining section, a vegetarian section, a German cuisine section, an Indian section, and so on. If there is no really good reason not to use our standard subsections, this should be reorganized into Budget/Mid-range/Splurge.

Thanks a lot. Would you recommend June-August as the best months to visit? I'm wondering if some of the other months are sufficiently more rainy not to be as great for a visit. Ikan Kekek (talk) 22:00, 12 December 2013 (UTC)

In my opinion the perfect month is July. The sea wather is warmer than in June and is less crowded than in August. In May and October some occasional hard rain can ruin you the day, but not the whole trip. Eloi.sanmartin (talk) 23:30, 12 December 2013 (UTC)
