"Visa" section[edit]

We do not usually have this in Airport articles, is this needed? And if so, should it be introduced for other airport articles? Also, as many just transfer here, we should definitely include the information which visas - if any - transiting passengers need. Hobbitschuster (talk) 20:18, 23 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

It seems this section was originally copied from Istanbul Atatürk Airport, the article for Istanbul's former main airport, although I am not sure why it was added to that article initially. Per wtsi#V, visa information should go to the "get in" section of the country articles.
I had an Armenian friend who was studying in Hungary, and using Istanbul's other airport on his travels between home and school. I remember him telling me that, at least back in 2015, he couldn't exit the airport for the city without a visa, but could stay airside without one, even if the layover is several hours long. I wouldn't think this is only specific for Armenian citizens, but cannot be sure what percentage, if any, of transit passengers would need a visa. Vidimian (talk) 21:01, 23 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
I agree that the section as written doesn't belong. If it had visa information for transit passengers as suggested, or visa information specific to the airport in question (for instance, some countries like Paraguay and China allow visas on arrival at certain specific airports but not others), that would be different. —Granger (talk · contribs) 23:22, 23 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Iconography[edit]

Forgive me if this is just due to my lack of knowledge / skills! It seems only certain icons work when using Template:Rail-interchange It would have been nice to be able to use Istanbul specific iconography from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Rail-interchange/doc/TR but although these work in Wikipedia they don't seem to work in Wikivoyage! Maybe this is a sitewide issue in wikivoyage with this template? —The preceding comment was added by 90.240.121.211 (talkcontribs)

Wikivoyage is different from wikipedia so Wikipedia templates won't and shouldn't work here unless we have the same template of that. If you want to request a new icon, go and add a request on {{rint}} and it'll probably be done in a day or two. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 12:23, 21 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
I'll provide a bit more context here. We introduced {{Rail-interchange}} (RINT for short) back in 2018 to do the exact same as the namesake template as Wikipedia. Unlike Wikipedia though, we do not want to be too reliant on Commons (and Wikipedia's version also features a load of local-only images), so we decided to recreate the template here based on labels rendered in HTML/CSS. They require less maintenance and allow us to be more consistent in how we display public transport routes. I get that it might be a bit weird to not use the official icons, but the thought behind it is that we don't want to distract the reader with too many colourful icons. I've updated the Turkish icons to be up-to-date following your request, and everything you should need should be in there. Unlike Wikipedia though, we list systems that are useful to the traveller, so small systems that don't span a significant distance (i.e.: Funiculars, chairlifts, et cetera) are generally left out. Istanbul already had them, so I left them in. You should have everything you need, but if that's not the case, please let me know what else needs fixing in your edit request.

Taxi fare guidelines[edit]

The IST page for taxi fare guidelines has been updated and needs to be updated on the Wiki. https://www.istairport.com/en/passenger/transport/airport-transfers/taxi

I can take a stab at it once I get a chance but putting it out there for any willing volunteers. Cyali (talk) 10:04, 25 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
