"Violence-Prone?"[edit]

I had to change the headline for the article "South Central is a violence-prone section of Los Angeles." It is a racist caricature of this neighborhood that houses two icons of American art (Watts Towers and Randy's Donuts) and is definitely worth visiting. And South Central is not the most well-known ghetto in the US, I would argue Harlem is.(WT-en) Khuryps 23:16, 17 November 2007 (EST)

Bad as this article gets, the link to in in the main L.A. article is even worse. Of course there are risks that tourists need to be forewarned about, but it needs to be done in a balanced way. There are also some noteable eateries in So Central. I'm not up on that anymore, but I hope someone who is can write it up. 76.168.50.104 06:18, 6 August 2008 (EDT)
Yes, South Central comes with a lot of baggage... but feel free to help in any way you can :) – (WT-en) cacahuate talk 23:59, 6 August 2008 (EDT)

The claim that SC is comparable to Baghdad is ridiculous. I'm deleting it.

Agree, thanks for removing that, I try to keep this section sensible as it's a magnet for sensational hearsay, but that one got past me! – (WT-en) cacahuate talk 03:43, 13 January 2009 (EST)
