Regions

locust plague

Bubonic plague

The plague existed in Madagascar before the recent news coverage, and combined with all of the other medical concerns in the country (which are far more likely to be an issue to the traveler), I would be more in favor of beefing up the "Stay healthy" section rather than putting a warning box at the top of the article. Note that WHO is not currently recommending any travel restrictions [1], but if that changed then a warning box would make more sense. That said, I'm nearly always against reacting to the latest thing being hyped by the news (ebola in Dallas, a terrorist attack at a dance club, plague in Madagascar, etc) with a warning box since such things are remote threats (at worst) to the average traveler, and thus a giant warning box seems to me like fearmongering, so another opinion might be useful. -- Ryan • (talk) • 19:27, 27 November 2014 (UTC)

Since the disease is easily cured with antibiotics, its spread isn't a good reason not to travel, just a reason to inform people that they should be ready to get antibiotics in a timely fashion. I don't have a problem with that being in "Stay healthy," rather than as a warning box, for the reasons you state. Ikan Kekek (talk) 20:46, 27 November 2014 (UTC)
