Individual listings[edit]

See this reversion for some background. How, if at all, have we been policing individual listings? Should we have any in this article? There are thousands and thousands of meditation centers throughout the world. I think we would do better to describe different styles of meditation and recommend places or schools (not physical places but the school of Famous Guru X and Famous Guru Y) travelers might want to consider for the fullest experience of these styles or schools of meditation, but in my opinion, individual listings should be only in city articles. If we do allow individual listings, they should be only of the most unquestionably famous, influential or groundbreaking institutions in the World.

So what guidelines do you think we should establish for listings in this article? Ikan Kekek (talk) 10:01, 21 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

This never stopped being an issue because no-one replied to this post. We'd better make up our minds about this, unless we want there to eventually be thousands of listings of individual yoga/meditation centers and chains in this article. Ikan Kekek (talk) 19:31, 28 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Talk: My Entry of Panditarama was removed because it was promotional.[edit]

I entered a page about Panditarama, Lumbini Vipassana Meditation Center.

It remains, but there is no link, and the link was changed to Lumbini, Nepal General.

I received a message that my entry was promotional. I have no idea why. I am not an employee, owner and I reviewed the Meditation center. If this isn't acceptable, it's rather ridiculous. —The preceding comment was added by Wolf K (talkcontribs)

The entry wasn't removed; it's still in this article, and you should feel free to put a listing in the Lumbini article. It's just that meditation centers don't normally get their own articles on this site, as opposed to Wikipedia, which has articles about every kind of business or institution. See Wikivoyage:What is an article for some more information on how this site tends to handle travel destinations, and you also might look at Wikivoyage:Where you can stick it, which deals with what section of destination articles is good for which attractions. In terms of touting, I'd like to apologize for misreading your article on no sleep. We get a lot of promotional posts and articles about businesses, but you are just a satisfied customer providing information from your own experience, so we should thank you and work with you, and I personally thank you. I'd be delighted to remove the touting comment from your user talk age and substitute a welcome post if that would help us start over on a good footing, or feel free to delete the post yourself. Thank You[edit]

There's a learning curve, I see.

Thank you for your help and for being nice.

I understand my post of Panditarama Lumbini may be more appropriately placed in another place, say, under Lumbini (under things to do. which makes sense) --- I think I misunderstood the format of earlier meditation center posts as linking to a separate destination page.

Bear with me ... —The preceding comment was added by Wolf K (talkcontribs)

Certainly. (Parenthetically: On talk pages, it's customary to sign your username at the end of each post by typing 4 tildes [~] in a row. That way, it's easy to see who posted what.) Ikan Kekek (talk) 02:24, 8 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
