Iris, South Carolina[edit]

Swept in from the pub

After trying to create an interwiki link for Iris, I can't see any evidence that any place called Iris, South Carolina, exists, either at the coordinates given in the article, or anywhere else in South Carolina. Does Wikivoyage have an AfD procedure I could submit this to? -- The Anome (talk) 14:35, 1 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This site indicates that the place exists nominally, but as the map shows, it is nothing but an old outpost and should likely be redirected to Abbeville.Texugo (talk) 14:49, 1 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think an old output can be regarded as a travel destination at all. If we had a guide article for every named abandoned place that has an entry in a database, we could have hundreds of thousands of such articles, to no useful purpose. If you look at Google Maps' aerial view of the point given, there doesn't appear to be anything there but some farm buildings. We should delete the page. -- The Anome (talk) 10:26, 2 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
These arguments should be at vfd. If it is a real place we redirect it, not matter how insignificant. If it doesn't we delete it. --Inas (talk) 10:33, 2 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Isn't the purpose of redirecting real places to avoid vfd discussions? LtPowers (talk) 22:12, 2 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, one purpose of redirecting is to avoid VFDs, and this one should be redirected. But where? Abbeville is in France. There is an Abbeville mentioned in a South Carolina article at Old 96 District, but it is currently a red link & probably needs to have a disambig page. Redirect to the Old 96 District? To Abbeville (South Carolina)? 22:23, 2 March 2013 (UTC) —The preceding comment was added by Pashley (talkcontribs)
Wikipedia also lists an Iris in California, although it looks about as (in)significant as the one in South Carolina. The creation of this article appears to have been the work of an anon page creation troll several years back, and I think we have deleted some of those articles in the past. For want of a better solution, I recommend redirecting to Old 96 District. Realistically speaking, it's not like anyone is actually going to be searching for this place anyway. -- AndreCarrotflower (talk) 00:10, 7 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sweatman's[edit]

This is apparently a famous BBQ place in Holly Hill but I can't make it look right on the page. Sorry guys! I'd appreciate someone fixing it, but also if someone can explain what I did wrong so I could fix it myself next time... Wyote (talk) 06:54, 21 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

That's because if you don't use http:// or https:// in your URLs, they won't display properly. I should be able to fix it, but it would seem best to put it in the article for the nearest town. Also, a region article about an area of the state that has nothing but red-linked towns seems pretty useless. Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:01, 21 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Fixed. The URL is http://sweatmansbbq.com/ Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:03, 21 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
