The merge[edit]

Not sure about this merge, as from the point of view of reaching Bastei by road, Rathem is quite a distance and not on the route to the Bastei.--Traveler100 (talk) 16:18, 25 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Name[edit]

While moving this page from Kurort Rathen to Rathen, it was claimed that the former term is never used and it is not seen on signage. Except that's the name you hear on the S-Bahn... Hobbitschuster (talk) 17:16, 19 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

When I wrote "everyday use", I referred to common parlance, not the official name which is also used in rail schedules and automated loudspeaker announcements. Rail schedules and announcements also use "Lutherstadt Wittenberg", while our article is named just Wittenberg, reflecting common parlance. To my mind, particles like "Kurort" and "Lutherstadt" are not part of the actual place name (although I am aware that they officially are); they appear somewhat artificial and officialese to me, as locals rarely, if ever, include them when referring to these places, unlike the "Bad" particle which is often included even in informal speech.--RJFF (talk) 12:49, 28 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Except for Bad Aachen, of course... Hobbitschuster (talk) 18:58, 28 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
