Restoring the article[edit]

I wanted to add much more info about the Toronto Islands but found that to be awkward with the former article-within-an-article format of the Toronto/Harbourfront article. It's virtually a separate district with its own distinctive quirks (ferries rather than subways/trams/buses; no autos; etc). So, I converted Toronto/Islands from a redirect into an article. I made corresponding changes to the main and Toronto/Harbourfront articles. TheTrolleyPole (talk) 20:02, 18 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

I previously raised some concerns at Talk:Toronto#Harbourfront / Islands about the district split. It's true that the Islands are geographically distinct, but I'm concerned that the split leaves both articles too short. Powers (talk) 18:20, 20 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
Both articles are now much longer than before, and the status of the Island article has recently been upgraded by someone else from "outline" to "usable" status. I felt that mushing mainland and island categories (See, Eat, Do, etc.) together was inconvenient to readers. It is not likely one would say: Shall we eat at Swiss Chalet (mainline) or the Rectory (Islands)? Normally one would eat at the Rectory only if one is already on the Island. Also "Get in" and "Get around" is distinctly different than on the mainland.TheTrolleyPole (talk) 20:00, 22 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Ferry frequency[edit]

I was just at the docks and by far the most frequent ferry was the Ward Island ferry, and so I removed the sentence saying that Centre Island has the most frequent ferry service. (In April 2024, the Ward Island ferry ran every half hour while the Centre Island ferry ran every hour.) If the Centre Island ferry becomes more frequent during the summer tourist season, we should note that. Brycehughes (talk) 04:14, 28 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
